Houston

Oh wow. I'm a slacker. I haven't written in so long. But, never fear...I have returned. And I do have lots of adventures to report. First, I went to Houston. I'm from the east coast and have never been to Texas. I spent ten days in a beautiful hotel downtown. It was amazing.

View from my room

I saw a few celebrities, too! I live on the east coast in a resort town on the beach. I don't live in NY or LA where, apparently, celebrities are walking amongst us little people on a daily basis. So, for me, any one on tv, that I see in person, is sort of nifty.
Celebrity #1 Cindy McCain. She was on the first plane I took on my way to Houston. Let me start by saying, the woman looks good. I mean really good. I have no idea how old she is...but damn...its impressive. Also, the whole flight crew adored her and she seemed to treat them very well. I like that. Celebrities that are jerks can just go jump off a bridge.
Celebrity #2 Randy from TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress" There was a bridal show the first couple days I was in town. I assume he was attending. I saw him one night in my hotel bar. I knew something interesting was happening when all the ladies in the bar went nuts. All the squeals and picture taking was hilarious. Unfortunately, he didn't stay for a drink. He walked through, took pics, gave hugs, and left.
Celebrity #3 (and most exciting) Rod Stewart
I have no idea why he was staying in my hotel and I didn't even believe it was him, at first. Then, I went to lunch in the hotel bar (I spent a lot of time there) and he was sitting three stools away from me. He seemed somewhat surly and had about three Budweisers in front of him....so I didn't ask for an autograph.
Here he is...

I did not expect Budweiser to be Rod's choice.
I was also in Houston during the Olympic marathon trials. From my cushy room, I watched them run and run and run. It was amazing. The sad part...I was too lazy to even stand during the whole race and sat in a lovely chair, propped my feet up, & sipped a Coke.I felt somewhat guilty that some would probably be puking at the finish line. I guess that's why I don't run.
The finish line.
I had plenty of adventures in Houston. These are just a few. I also saw dueling flamenco dancers, met an extremely intimidating reporter that happened to be a nun, and ordered a steak as big as my head. I must admit what little I saw of Texas, I loved and wouldn't hesitate to return.
